Product Review: Vican Whipped Organic SheaCo with Lavender & Vican Moringa Oil with Lemongrass Oil

I was contacted by someone from AfiaAfia.com and asked to sample these products. I'm always a little wary of doing product reviews that are requested by the vendors. My assumption is that most vendors just want you to hype their products and (obviously) give them more exposure/social media coverage. I don't have a problem doing that, but only if the products are good...

These products weren't good... They were G R E A T ! ! !

I L O V E these products!!!

I received a 100ml of Moringa Oil and 240ml of SheaCo to try out. I've been using both products for about a month now. I wanted to make sure I had sufficient time to really make up my mind before I wrote about them. The products are 100% Natural, 100% Paraben-Free and 100% VEGAN. So if you're trying to avoid harsh chemicals, they may be a good option for you.

The oil has become a staple for all of my protective styles as well as my moisturising routine for my hair. I've used it as a make up remover. I also use it when I'm using my candle oil burner. I'm a huge fan of citrus scents so this is an added bonus for me.

You know when you go out to eat with friends and they order what you usually get and you take a chance on something different and they're all disappointed because their food is awful and yours is amazing? You know that sweet feeling when they're eyeballing your food? That smugness? That satisfaction? THAT'S WHAT THIS STUFF SMELLS LIKE. It makes the flat [Americans read: apartment] smell like heaven. I've even started adding a little to my skin moisturising routine (yes, I have a routine).

The oil gives my hair a nice sheen without weighing it down which I like too. The bottle makes it easy to manage how much of the oil you're using because you squeeze the nib and draw oil up the funnel and squeeze the nib/tit again to release drops into your palm/scalp.

Note: It is an oil so you don't want to go over the top when you are using it. If you use too much you're bound to end up feeling greasy and nasty. It is light in consistency - similar to sweet almond oil. I've added pictures so that you can see how my hair looks when I use the oil to seal.

This Moringa oil smells like success and good decisions.

Oil ingredients: Moringa Oil with Lemongrass :Moringa Oleifera Oil,  lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) oil, Citral, Geraniol,  Limonene,Linalool,Eugenol

I use the Shea butter E V E R Y D A Y. Especially on my elbows, knees and feet (it's summertime and ashy is not cute).

The butter softens/melts quickly - no hand rubbing required and smooths on to the skin like a light oil. The downside I could see is that is if you don't store it somewhere cool, you're likely to end up with a pot of oil. It contains coconut oil so I think that's why. The Lavender scent is strong so if you're not a fan of Lavender you won't like it. If you are, you love it. It is Shea butter which can be thick and greasy so beware of being heavy-handed in your application if you do choose to get some. A little goes a long way. My skin feels soft and nourished and unlike with most skin products, I don't need to re-apply later in the day. In terms of moisture, I get the best results if my skin is a little bit damp before I rub it in (fresh out of the shower).

SheaCO ingredients: SheaCo Lavender: Shea Butter (Butyrospermum  Parkii), Coconut (Cocos nucifera) oil, Lavender (Lavandula Angustifolia)  oil, Linalool, Vitamin E Oil (tocopherol) Geraniol, Limonene. Limonen, Linalool and Geraniol (typically found in essential oils)

Both products cost a pretty penny, so if you're about your coin, they may not be for you. I've been using them for about a month and haven't made a dent in either of them, so if you are willing to fork out the cost of these refined products, they will last a long time...

All in all, they get 4.5 out of 5 stars from me. They do what they say they will do. They smell great and feel great on my hair/skin. I'm glad I got a chance to try them out. I'm hoping they expand the line. It would be great to try different essential oil based products.
